Basis contracts

A basis contract locks the local basis now and leaves the futures price open to set later.

The opposite of an HTA: you set the basis now and price the futures part later, by a deadline in the contract.

It fits when local basis is strong but you think futures could rise. The risk is that futures fall before you price.

Delivery is usually soon, so you move the grain now and price later.
