Hedge-to-arrive (HTA)
An HTA locks the futures part of the price now and leaves basis open to set later.
A hedge-to-arrive contract sets the futures price today and lets you set basis later, before delivery.
It's useful when futures look good but local basis looks weak, for example right at harvest. The risk: basis could get worse, and some HTAs can be rolled to later months, which can add cost. Read the contract terms on fees and rolling.
You still owe the bushels.
